Birthzang is excited to announce that Eleanor Hayes (that’s me folks!) who teaches the Janet Balaskas Active Birth Workshops is now fully registered with FEDANT. My registration number is 12489 if anyone wants to look me up on the register!
FEDANT stands for the Federation of Antenatal Educators and it regulates Antenatal Educators, Breastfeeding Counsellors and Doulas in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Islands.
They issue specific regulations about the training that antenatal educators, doulas and breastfeeding counsellors have to achieve in order to be included on the national register. The educators also agree to abide by a Code of Ethics.
It is not compulsory for antenatal educators to belong to FEDANT, but by becoming a member their clients can be reassured that the standard of teaching will be very high and cover all the essential topics to help them learn about birth.
Birthzang had the pleasure of assisting Janet Balaskas, at the Active Birth Centre in London, in applying for FEDANT accreditation for her “Janet Balaskas Active Birth Workshop” teacher training programme. This course received accreditation in 2013, and as a result I (Eleanor Hayes) have been able to register with FEDANT as I teach Janet Balaskas Active Birth Workshops.
