Finding useful and relevant local info is sometimes difficult so I have tried to collate some links that I think Birthzang parents might find helpful in and around Reading and Berkshire UK. If you’d like to be included please so email me at Click on the service to jump straight to that section.

A great resource for finding pregnancy and baby services is the Maternity Network. It is a group of qualified pregnancy, birth and baby professionals in the Berkshire area. Do check out their website if you can’t find what you are looking for here.


Acupuncture can be used safely throughout pregnancy to relieve many different symptoms and has had proven success with turning breech babies!

Charlotte Stean trained at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading and specialises in women’s health and pregnancy. She practices in Reading, Mortimer and Wokingham.

Breastfeeding Support

La Leche League run monthly meetings in Reading and also have a breastfeeding helpline: 0845 120 2918.

The Breastfeeding Network provide support in many locations such as baby weigh in clinics across Reading. They also run the National Breastfeeding Helpline on 0300 100 0210.


Dynamic Family Chiropractic in Caversham, Reading offer chiropractic treatment for pregnancy-related, and other conditions. My association with them stems from being a very satisfied customer! Having optimal spinal and postural health is essential for a good birth. Small spinal imbalances can inhibit the path of your baby down the birth canal and Kelly-Jane Thompson and Liam McLaughlin offer specialised treatment plans tailored for pregnancy and beyond.


Shelley Smith is a Doula based in Berkshire and also offers a variety of antenatal and parenting classes to help new parents navigate this unchartered territory! She also has lots of other information about parenting, such as co-sleeping, on her website BirthNBaby.

Osteopathy and Cranio-Sacral Therapy for Pregnancy and Baby

Osteopathy in pregnancy can help mitigate aches and pains and not only keeps your spine in good nick but also focuses on your limbs (great for carpal-tunnel syndrome!).

Julian Hearne at Hearne Osteo offers treatments for mums and babies, and has a very good track record with cranio-sacral osteopathy on babies.

Carol Baker at Trinitas Osteopathic Clinic also offers osteopathy to women through fertility, pregnancy and postnatally.

Linda Cook and Zena Facherty both offer placenta encapsulation in Reading.

Photography – Pregnancy & Newborn

Anna Hurst has a lovely portfolio of baby photography. She has even won awards! Actually worth it just to go gaga over delicious babies!
